Claire Fung M.D. was recently honored with the Constance M. Grasso Award by the YWCA of Greater Newburyport.
Dr. Fung was presented with the award at the YWCA of Greater Newburyport’s annual meeting on April 26 at the Amesbury Senior Center in Amesbury, Massachusetts.
The YWCA of Greater Newburyport is a part of an international women’s movement dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. They established the Constance M. Grasso Award in 2015 to recognize individuals who, through their professional or volunteer lives, have impacted their community positively by supporting women’s health issues. Through the establishment of this award, the YWCA of Greater Newburyport hopes to shine the light on members of our community who share Connie’s passion and commitment to women’s health.
The award was created in memory of Constance “Connie” Grasso who was a longtime employee of the YWCA and co-creator of the YWCA Encore Program, a free program for women who have had breast and/or ovarian cancer. Connie was a breast cancer survivor and impassioned about the program and women’s health. Connie lost her battle with breast cancer in February 2015 and the award was created in her memory to honor a special individual who embraced women’s health.
The staff at Commonwealth Newburyport Cancer Center congratulates Dr. Fung on receiving this prestigious award. We are honored to work alongside Dr. Fung and are proud of the exemplary care she delivers to the women in our community.
